The Lehigh is ideally situated just a few hours from most of New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and much of the mid-Atlantic region, and provides you with Class II-III rapids.

Trip Descriptions:
The Exhilarating Rafting Trips are what whitewater is all about. This is when the Lehigh River is running full and fast.
Snow melts and spring rains plus the periodic dam releases specific for whitewater rafting, give rafters class I-III+ water.
Rafters will raft sections 1 or 2, which are in the Lehigh Gorge. This section of river is from White Haven to Jim Thorpe, PA
and generally lasts 4-5 hours. This is our most popular trip and is a must do in the world of whitewater! Age requirements are
12 years old: April 1-15; 10 years old: April 16-June 24 & Sept 3-October 30; 8 years old: June 25-September 2.
The Exciting Rafting Trips are held when extra water is released form the Francis Walter Dam. With these periodic dam releases
specific for whitewater rafting, rafters will experience class I-III water. Rafters will raft from Jim Thorpe or the Glenn to
Bowmanstown, PA. The trip will last 2.5-4 hours and has an age requirement of 8 years old.
The “Easier” Rafting Trips are perfect for first timers and younger children. The trip will run from
Jim Thorpe or The Glenn to Bowmanstown. Rafters will experience class I-II+ flow and the trip will last 3-4 hours. The recommended ages
are 8 years old in spring and fall and 5 years old on other summer days.
The “Easier - Float” Rafting Trip is perfect for first timers and younger children. The trip will run from
Jim Thorpe or The Glenn to Bowmanstown. Rafters will experience class I-II+ flow and the trip will last 3-4 hours.
The recommended ages are 8 years old in spring and fall and 5 years old on other summer days. This trip is available
June through September 14 and does not include Summer dam releases.
River Classifications:
Class 1: Easy-Moving water with small riffles and waves. Course Easy to find.
Class 2: Medium-Generally unobstructed rapids and waves up to 2 feet and wide channels. Some Maneuvering may be necessary.
Class 3: Difficult-Rapids with high irregular waves. The course is not easy to recognize. May require complex maneuvering.
Class 4: Very Difficult- Long extended rapids through very turbulent water. The course requires precise maneuvering through constricted passages. Scouting from shore is frequently necessary.
Class 5: Exceedingly Difficult-Long rocky rapids through very violent water. Routes are highly congested and must be scouted from the shore.
Class 6: Limit of Navigability-Nearly impossible and cannot be attempted without risk. For teams of experts only.
